Outpatient Surgery
At Fairchild Medical Center outpatient surgery we realize that while we perform surgeries every day, that coming to the hospital for a surgical procedure can be quite overwhelming. You can be assured our team will work hard to ease your fears and anxiety, and make your experience with us as comfortable as possible. Your physician will schedule a surgical time, and if needed, a pre-operative visit before your surgery. The pre-operative visit is scheduled at least 24-hours before surgery, and any test ordered by your physician will be completed during this time. A registered nurse will instruct you on pre-surgery procedures and also your activities after surgery. Please ask questions anytime during your surgical stay.
Following surgery you will be in a recovery area where you will be monitored by a registered nurse and given any pain medications needed as instructed by your physician. Post-operative instructions will be discussed and written instructions will be given to you to take home. We will telephone outpatients the next working day to answer any questions and make sure you are recuperating satisfactorily.

› Online Birth Announcements
Thank you for choosing Fairchild Medical Center for the
delivery of your baby. Childbirth is a very special time, and Fairchild
Medical Center's Obstetrical Department is proud to be a part of your special day.
At FMC, we have two modern birthing rooms. These rooms are each equipped with a birthing bed and a neonatal unit for you and your baby's medical needs. Each tastefully decorated room is equipped with a private bath, CD player, and sleeping facilities for your birthing partner. Each room is individually temperature controlled.
Many women find that water is a wonderful help in labor! Each room has a shower and we also have a whirlpool tub which many find very relaxing. We encourage you to walk to help move labor along or you may want to use the birthing ball.
Please, bring your focal point, special music, massage oil... whatever you think might help you relax during your labor.
In addition to these comfort measures, FMC has infant warmers in each room which are equipped with emergency equipment, such as oxygen, should it be needed.
FMC's newborn nursery provides level one care. This means that our nurses are trained in neonatal care and can provide care for any newborn needing
oxygen or IV therapy. We work closely with Rouge Valley Medical Center in Medford, OR should any
baby need neonatal intensive care.
We have a tradition at FMC and that is our Celebration Dinner for two.
You will have a choice
of several entrees as well as sparkling cider to share with a special someone.
Our Labor Nurses are highly skilled, and are required to obtain / maintain the following certifications:
· Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
· Advanced Fetal Monitoring
· STABLE (Newborn Transport)
In addition to these requirements, they are trained in all aspects of mother-baby care including labor, delivery, postpartum, breastfeeding and
newborn care. We provide professional nursing care with a personal
touch in a relaxed, home-like environment!
During your pregnancy, we encourage you to come by and tour our department. FMC provides childbirth classes and we offer a Tea every other month for expectant mothers. This is a tour of the department provided by our nurses and hospital volunteers.
